The MDW-45 is a simple serial converter that allows you to connect RS-232 and RS-422 / RS-485 systems. Dip switches are used for all configuration options that make the unit easy to install. The MDW-45 is designed for use in industrial applications. The wide range of power supply, galvanic isolation, transient protection and fault protection guarantee communication in the most hostile environments. Only industrial-grade components are used that provide the MDW-45 with a MTBF of 1,000,000 hours and guarantee long life. A wide operating temperature range of -40 to + 70 ° C (-40 to + 158 ° F) is achieved thanks to the absence of moving parts. The MDW-45 has been tested by both Westermo and external test houses to meet many EMC, insulation, vibration and shock standards, all at the highest levels suitable for industrial and railway environments. The MDW-45 is suitable for a variety of applications with various speed and data bit options. Normally the RS-485 data direction is controlled by the RS-232 handshake lines, however the MDW-45 also features a timed automatic rotation function that allows the unit to operate in any application
